IOS Press and NSTL sign 3 year contract for China wide access
IOS Press and NSTL (National Science and Technology Library) have signed a 3 year contract for the access to all of IOS electronic publications. The deal follows an extensive review of actual usage by the Chinese library users, which showed that the IOS collection was frequently accessed and became increasingly popular over time. NSTL and IOS Press would like to thank Swets for their active involvement in bringing both parties together and supporting the process throughout.
A spokesperson for NSTL commented, “NSTL is impressed with the quality of the IOS content and is convinced that the IOS publications will be of great benefit to the academic users. NSTL expressed their appreciation to IOS and Swets, for their cooperation and efforts in bringing such good content to the Chinese researchers. In addition, NSTL expects IOS to publish more, new, high-quality research content in the future; and Swets, as a key partner of NSTL and the foreign publishers, to continue playing the active role in introducing the high-quality academic contents to China and to further enhance the academic communications between China and the western world.”
Popke Huizinga, deputy director of IOS Press says, “We are very pleased that all of the research institutes and universities in mainland China are now able to access our e-journals. Thanks to our long term relationship with Swets and their good relationship with the academic world, our journals are now accessible to the NSTL consortium members. We are very thankful to Swets for creating this opportunity.”
Frans van Ette, Regional Director AsiaPacific of Swets says, “Making sure that content becomes truly global is one of the most interesting roles that the modern subscription agent can play. Through our Gateway initiative we do just that and we are grateful for having the opportunity to work with excellent partners like IOS and NSTL.”
